Your partner in airline sustainability

Solutions from GE Digital Aviation Software help aircraft operators increase sustainability and meet regulatory requirements across their operation - from fuel usage, to airspace efficiency, predictive maintenance, and flight crew performance.

Leverage the power of our solutions to help promote efficiency and reduce carbon emissions within your operation

Safety Insight

Safety Insights' FOQA (flight operation quality assurance) solutions help aircraft operators maintain the highest levels of safety while maximizing efficiency and minimizing their carbon footprint. Using our flight data platform, operators can access both safety and fuel analytics to identify and quantify specific opportunities to reduce fuel consumption.

FlightPulse

FlightPulse was designed by pilots, for pilots to empower them with the data they need to make smarter decisions around safety and fuel consumption. FlightPulse provides pilots with secure access to personal analytics and flight data for their own individual flight history along with aggregated data from across their operation – so they can self-discover areas to optimize operations and maximize emission reduction.

Maintenance Insight

Maintenance Insight provides airlines with analytics that help monitor component health to optimize performance and decrease inefficiencies that lead to excess fuel burn and carbon emissions. Operators can avoid maintenance disruptions to keep their existing fleet running efficiently and reduce their carbon footprint.

Airspace Insight

Airspace Insight helps improve flightpath navigation and identify inefficiencies in an airspace to potentially reduce the overall time between destinations, resulting in less carbon emissions. It is estimated that a typical flight emits 900 to 1,000 kg of excess carbon per flight due to inefficient airspace design and air traffic control practices*. Airspace Insights is the first tool of its kind enabling a collaborative approach between all necessary stakeholders (Air traffic control (ATC), airlines, airports, airspace designers, and communities) to not only identify inefficiencies in an airspace, but also to recognize unnecessary flight paths over environmentally sensitive areas – helping reduce the impact of noise and pollution.

Fuel Insight

Fuel Insight is a SaaS solution that helps reduce fuel cost and carbon emissions by understanding data from your aircraft and airline. Utilizing our powerful aviation data and analytics platform to merge flight data with flight plans, operators can uncover valuable insight to help increase fuel efficiency and reduce waste. Fuel Insight gives operators actionable intelligence at multiple levels allowing analysts to drill down from macro trends to understand issues on a per-flight level.

GE's analytics affect behavioral changes that save fuel and carbon emissions

Sustainability in Aviation | GE Digital and AirAsia

AirAsia and Airspace Insight

AirAsia utilizes Airspace  Insight  to  help change pilot and Air Traffic Control (ATC) behaviors across their network  and  increase  utilization  of  more  efficient  PBN  flight  paths.  By  integrating  flight,    surveillance, terrain, and navigation data on a single pane of glass, and utilizing standard KPIs to evaluate operational waste in a  given  airspace,  they facilitate  ANSP  discussions  to  identify  actionable  solutions  through  GE’s  professional services. With this approach they:

  • Observe low RNAV utilization at 14 secondary airports across Malaysia
  • Quantify cost and carbon benefits associated with increased utilization
  • Drive pilot and Air Traffic Control (ATC) behavioral changes across their network through Airspace Insight enabled education
  • Rapidly increase utilization to >40%, with a target of 80% inclusion of their main hub, to drive $10M per year of savings

Pilots reduce carbon emissions with fuel saving procedures

Sustainability in aviation | Qantas FlightPulse results

Qantas and FlightPulse

Qantas is the largest Australian domestic and international carrier with a reputation for excellence in safety, reliability, maintenance and customer service and a history of innovation. With 300+ aircraft, 7,300 flights per week and 55 MM passengers per year, Qantas boasts a unique mixture of ultra long-haul, short-haul, regional, and cargo flights servicing both low-cost and premium markets.

Qantas collaborated with GE to address these challenges:

  • Pilots did not have access to individual flight data for self-reflection, continuous learning, and benchmarking
  • Pilots were unable to use their individual performance to collaborate on flight risk management and fuel-saving initiatives

After deploying FlightPulse to their pilots, Qantas saw:

  • Up to 15% increase in adoption of fuel-saving procedures, saving 1.8MM kg of fuel
  • 5.71MM kg carbon emissions avoided
