This May, GE Digital is pleased to be the gold sponsor for AWS’ second annual Energy Symposium in Houston, Texas, United States. Last year, GE Digital’s Energy business announced a strategic partnership with AWS focused on software innovation to help our customers prepare, sustain, and accelerate the energy transition. As an Energy Competency partner via our Asset Performance Management (APM) software, GE Digital has proven to be a secure, scalable and successful SaaS solution for our customers. But, as you can probably gather—we can’t do it alone.
Did You Know?
GE plays a role in producing more than 1/3 of the world’s energy. Across power plants of all fuel types, intelligent grids and more, GE has been innovating in the energy space for 130 years. As part of GE, GE Digital supports the generation, distribution and consumption of power through our customers’ deployment of modernized software solutions.
Today on the power generation and oil and gas side, GE Digital has 300+ unique customers globally. Within the GE Digital Industrial Managed Services center, we monitor more than 8,000 critical assets – ranging from gas and wind turbines to jet engines. Since 2015, we’ve helped prevent more than $1.6B of expense for these customers by identifying issues before they happen.
Still, this isn't’ something we can claim to do alone.
More about GE Digital’s Ecosystem Trifecta
As the title of my blog states: Energy Transition is a Team Sport. So, let’s talk a little bit about our teammates. (Cue the fog machine and fast-paced music for their entrance.)
GE Vernova
As a software business, we’re proud to be part of GE Vernova – a portfolio of power businesses. This gives us the advantage of having access to input, feedback, expertise and physics-based insights that supercharge our software solutions for the energy industry. For example, GE Digital software supports the Gas Power M&D center, which monitors more than 1,000 power generation plants globally. Our APM software executes 1.1 million accurate analytics that are backed by 30 billion data points. This partnership is integral in the acceleration of energy transition by enabling more reliable, affordable power globally.
Software Teammates
The partnership between GE Digital and AWS is one of many that we rely on to deliver the right solutions to our customers. With AWS, we are containerizing our technology which is allowing for better scale, availability, and security for our SaaS offering. This has enabled GE Digital to amplify our expertly built analytics and align with the market on a cloud-first future.
Aside from AWS, which you will hear more about during our speaking sessions at the Energy Symposium, GE Digital has expanded its ecosystems for our partners with some other software partners as well. A recent example of a growing ecosystem is Visionaize. As the world is faced with the latest trends like “Metaverse” or “conversational AI,” it was important for us to find a partner that can help lead our customers into the future alongside APM.
Visionaize is a 3D digital twin partner that allows users to explore physical assets, identify problems, and leverage APM to solve arising issues. Today, Visionaize is available in our APM Integrity application, with plans to expand into additional APM applications in the coming quarters.
Consulting Teammates
As you read in the introduction, GE has an immense amount of expertise it can tap into. However, there is always more to learn. GE Digital also are proud to work with Capgemini and EY, allowing for our customers to gain access to other experts in digital transformation and energy. This ecosystem addition is key to GE Digital and our commitment to producing the best software for the future.
Customer Teammates
Don't mistake the order or listing as importance. Customers are the heart of this team. Customer feedback and collaboration as a gift. To create software that truly meets the evolving needs of a large market, partnering with customers is critical. Across GE Digital and the verticals, we support we work each and every day to identify new applications, features, and configurations that give customers more value.
The same customers are also immensely important in sharing the story about how software is making a difference in the way they operate. A shining example of customer partnership from the past year that supports Energy Transition is Sorgenia and South Hook LNG, as they use our software to provide reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy.
Where You’ll Find Us at The Energy Symposium
It’s clear the energy transition is a team sport. It takes industry expertise, innovative software solutions, and a vision to truly help drive the industry forward. On May 17th, you’ll find GE Digital in the Energy Systems of the Future section where we’ll have product experts on-site to talk about how we’re working with AWS to further innovate our APM applications.
Attendees will also have a chance to hear from VP of Product Management, Steve Deskevich, as he participates in a panel discussion about the future of energy. And, Sr. Director of Product Management, Rachel Farr, will give a keynote on how we can “Electrify While Decarbonizing Through Software.”
Can’t wait to see you there!
Join us at the symposium to learn about how the Energy Systems of the Future will enable organizations to optimize their businesses and accelerate innovation through new data-driven solutions based on AWS technologies for advanced analytics, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), internet of things (IoT) and edge computing, high-performance computing (HPC), and autonomous machines supported by next gen connectivity solutions.
