GE, IUE-CWA AND OTHER UNIONS AGREE TO A TWO-YEAR CONTRACT EXTENSION

April 18, 2023

BOSTON – April 18, 2023 - GE (NYSE:GE) today announced that employees who are members of the International Union of Electrical Workers – Communications Workers of America (IUE-CWA) overwhelmingly ratified a two-year extension of their current national labor contract with GE. IUE-CWA officials informed GE that voting by members was completed today, and that the tentative agreement had been ratified, extending the contract through June 22, 2025.

Approximately 3,000 of GE’s U.S. employees are represented by contracts with the IUE-CWA across GE Aerospace (Lynn, MA; Madisonville, KY; Strother, KS), GE Vernova (Schenectady, NY; Albany, NY; Minneapolis, MN), and the GE Global Research Center (Niskayuna, NY). In addition to the IUE-CWA contract extension, GE reached extension agreements with eight local unions covering approximately 400 employees represented by IFPTE, IBEW, UA, IUPPE, and IAGPPE, all of which were ratified as well.

"This agreement provides our employees with wage increases along with competitive benefits to ensure we continue to attract and retain top talent, while providing clarity and a stable environment for the company as we approach the planned separation of GE Aerospace and GE Vernova,” said Bill Bussa, head of North American labor relations for GE.

Building on the success of the GE HealthCare spin, the company will separate its aerospace and energy businesses sometime in early 2024 to become GE Aerospace and GE Vernova, respectively. As separate businesses, GE Aerospace and GE Vernova will drive industry innovation, deeper operational focus, financial flexibility, and a stronger future for both the businesses and employees. In March, GE announced that it intends to invest $450M in U.S. manufacturing in 2023, including $335M across GE Aerospace facilities and $117M with GE Vernova, which will help position GE’s businesses for long-term success as they move towards launching the two independent industry leaders.
